Empowering Drivers to Ownership: The Vision Behind Cash Flow on Wheels

Issue 102

One Houston-area company is revolutionizing the trucking industry by providing drivers with the tools and resources needed to transition from drivers to owners. Under CEO Kendrick Edwards’ leadership, Cash Flow on Wheels (CFLOW) is dedicated to empowering truck drivers who are on a journey toward financial independence and ownership, particularly focusing on those who face challenges, such as poor credit history. Realizing that there was what he called a “hole” in the industry, Kendrick decided to create the company.

“Cash Flow is a GROUNDBREAKING company transforming the industry. We have successfully raised $10 million in private capital to empower drivers to become owner-operators, providing 75 trucks and trailers, while also offering education and support,” Kendrick explained during an interview with Subcontractors USA-Texas. “The high turnover rate among drivers often results from unfavorable conditions. To address this, I, along with other private investors, decided to provide funding as a form of private capital for semi-truck drivers. Our aim was to disrupt the industry by offering a better financial model for drivers.”

By means of many private investors, drivers have been able to raise their income and build their credit. This has resulted in many drivers refinancing their trucks and paying off the investors with amazing returns in a short period of time. The company has raised $10 million in private capital within just 16 months.

A Mission Rooted in Empowerment

CFLOW’s core mission is to help drivers secure contracts and access funding options, enabling them to pursue ownership in the trucking industry. For many drivers, the dream of owning their own truck—and eventually a home—can seem distant, especially when credit issues stand in the way. Kendrick and his team at CFLOW are changing that narrative. By offering guidance on developing credit through truck ownership, CFLOW is paving the way for drivers to achieve their goals and secure a stable financial future.

“My goal was to transform drivers’ lives while generating substantial revenue and addressing the high turnover rate. With a fleet of 138 trucks, including 75 semi-trucks, I aimed to provide drivers with the stability they need. By offering the capital to purchase their own trucks and providing necessary education, we reduce their financial pressure and support long-term success,” Kendrick said.

Despite Kendrick’s success in the industry, one of the driving forces behind it was the initial failure he endured. A real estate guru, the third-generation general contractor and builder didn’t have a background in trucking.

“I’m a first-generation trucker. You’re not really given a manual on how you run your trucking business,” he said. “Over 15 years, through trial and error, I learned what works and what doesn’t in the industry. Success at this level requires substantial capital and experience.”

Owner-Operator Hurdles

  1. Drivers can’t afford to buy their own truck, especially with poor credit.
  2. Even with good credit, drivers need to pay a large down payment to buy their own truck. Many otherwise qualified drivers are blocked from becoming owner-operators.
  3. Drivers need to also gain their own motor carrier authority. This involves needing more capital to fund their insurance policy down payment. No company in the industry is assisting drivers to work around this barrier, so thousands of drivers are left hopeless.

Solutions

  1. CFLOW finances in-house. All credit is welcome. Everyone is approved. All credit pulls are soft and will not affect your score.
  2. CFLOW has companies that have grants up to $10,000 for down payment assistance.
  3. CFLOW has credit investors that will joint venture with drivers who are ready for their own motor carrier (MC) authority. They are the ONLY ones in trucking offering to connect credit investors.

Significant Achievements in a Challenging Industry

KEP025

Despite the nationwide challenges facing the trucking industry, CFLOW has achieved remarkable success. The company has funded over 138 trucks, further boosting its multimillion-dollar private capital. These accomplishments highlight Kendrick’s commitment to uplifting drivers and ensuring they have the financial backing needed to flourish.

CFLOW currently manages over 20,000 driver leads, all eager to become owner-operators. These leads are efficiently managed through Tenstreet, a key recruiting platform that the company uses to streamline the process and connect drivers with opportunities. Tenstreet is arguably the largest recruiting platform in the United States. Only the majors use Tenstreeet to recruit drivers.

CashFlow on Wheels is actively seeking contracts and is ready to partner with businesses to meet a wide range of freight needs. With over 20 years of experience, they can provide reliability, expertise and attention to detail.

Expanding Influence in the Trucking Industry

In addition to its primary mission, CFLOW plays a crucial role in supporting its other transportation enterprises. The company provides the private capital backing of Kendrick Madison Transportation and Safestway Transport, both of which are licensed with the Department of Transportation. Furthermore, CFLOW holds a majority stake in multiple FedEx contracted routes across the U.S., operating over 70 vehicles in these fleets. This strategic involvement underscores the company’s commitment to elevating the trucking industry and providing drivers with more opportunities to grow.

A Vision for the Future

Kendrick’s vision for CFLOW extends beyond simply providing financial support. He aims to bring private capital into the trucking industry in a way that bypasses the traditional red tape that often hinders drivers from advancing. By doing so, CFLOW is not only helping drivers today but is also creating a pathway for them to become the industry leaders of tomorrow.

When giving advice to truck drivers aspiring to achieve more success, Kendrick said, “Be self-educated. Successful drivers are educated in this industry. Instead of trying to cheat and just wing it, be aggressive. It won’t fall in your lap.”

Guided by the motto “Always under promise and over deliver,” CFLOW is committed to exceeding the expectations of the drivers they support. It is more than just a funding company—it’s a partner in success, dedicated to helping drivers achieve their dreams of ownership and independence.

CFLOW will be focused on the introduction to migrating their fleet to become fully electric by 2025. Kendrick is looking to utilize many government benefits and incentives to create a program that is truly the first of its kind and will further pass along financial benefits to drivers and investors.
