Questions & Answers for Potential Suppliers

How do I know if I should register as a potential supplier with NRG?

A description of NRG can be found on the homepage of the website. You may also refer to the What We Buy guide to help you decide if your company’s products or services are purchased by NRG.

What do I do after I have registered with NRG?

By submitting your company’s information through NRG’s online supplier portal, you will increase your visibility as a potential supplier. The portal is NRG’s primary contact relationship management tool used to identify new and existing suppliers. Once you register online, the next step in the process does not require any action on your part. NRG will contact you if you meet the criteria to participate in an upcoming sourcing opportunity for your commodity or service area.

How can we meet with a representative of NRG?

As you can imagine, NRG gets requests for meetings from hundreds of suppliers. In order to manage the workload and keep their sourcing process fair, they ask that you meet one of their supplier diversity team members and company advocates at the trade fairs and networking events they attend through local chambers of commerce and councils of the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council (NMSDC) and Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and the Small Business Administration.

NRG does not post its procurement opportunities as they frequently change. The best way to ensure an opportunity to work with NRG is by keeping your company supplier profile up-to-date in their supplier registration portal. This portal is NRG’s resource to identify new and existing diverse suppliers.

Do I have to be certified as a small, minority, or woman-owned business enterprise to do business with NRG?

Certification is not a condition of doing business with NRG – in other words, a minority, woman, or small business owner does not have to be certified in order to do business with NRG. However, firms must be certified to receive assistance and referrals or to be recognized as part of NRG’s Supplier Diversity Program.
