Gilbane Leads in Sustainability as a Top Green Contractor

Gilbane Building Company was named one of the top green contractors in the United States by Engineering News-Record.

According to a news release, the number seven ranking underscores Gilbane’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship in the construction industry. They received the 10th spot last year.

“Gilbane continues to innovate and lean into smart building techniques and approaches,” said Tabitha Scott, Executive Sustainability Officer, Gilbane Building Company. “We see tremendous opportunity to embrace regenerative construction solutions to make the best use of all resources, deliver greater value, and provide lasting impacts that are guided by positive purpose.”  

Gilbane’s sustainability approach includes: 

  • Requiring an Environmental Planning Checklist on all projects 
  • Committing to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) 
  • Setting high standards for clients, suppliers, and communities through voluntary submission to rigorous, independent sustainability ratings like EcoVadis, CDP, and GRESB.  
  • Maximizing smart equipment sourcing and reuse to reduce embodied carbon and emissions 
  • Adapting the company’s sustainability focus based on employee crowd-sourcing to drive employee engagement and identify innovative opportunities in sustainability.  

Gilbane’s inclusion on the ENR’s Top Green Building Contractors list shows its dedication to leading in sustainable and regenerative construction.
