Fort Worth’s New ‘1 Million Cups’ Program Connects Spanish-Speaking Entrepreneurs

The national entrepreneurship program 1 Million Cups recently launched its first all-Spanish-speaking community earlier this month at Accelerate Fort Worth on the James E. Guinn Entrepreneurial Campus.

Originally started by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups is based on the notion that entrepreneurs network and discover solutions over a million cups of coffee. The free, weekly gathering helps build startup communities on a grassroots level.

This new 1 Million Cups Fort Worth en Español initiative aims to foster innovation and comradery among Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs in Fort Worth and is done in partnership with the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

1 Million Cups has been active in Fort Worth since 2014 for English-speaking entrepreneurs. But with the launch of the Spanish program, entrepreneurs, innovators, funders, and other interested community members can attend the event in either English or Spanish every Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

The program’s model is consistent in each city across the U.S. — each week, two early-stage startups present their companies to an audience of mentors, advisers and other entrepreneurs. Each presentation lasts six minutes and is followed by a 20-minute Q&A with the audience.

1 Million Cups en Español joins several other upcoming workshops and programs for small businesses and entrepreneurs, which are ongoing at the Devoyd Jennings Business Assistance Center (BAC) and across the James E. Guinn Entrepreneurial Campus.
