Award Recognizes Houston-Area Minority Construction Firms

The Houston MBDA Business Center, operated by Houston Community College, held its 4th Annual Salute to Minorities in Construction Luncheon. The event took place, Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Junior League. The event honored construction firms, advocates and organizations that support them. This yearโ€™s keynote speaker was Gregg Reyes, president and CEO of Reytec Construction Resources, Inc. Five honorees were recognized for their commitment to excellence, innovation and hard work in Houstonโ€™s construction industry.

The Honorees included:

  • Layle McKelvey of United Airlines
  • Tandelyn Weaver of The Kingdom Buildersโ€™ Center, Construction Contractorsโ€™ College
  • Roger Pombrolย of Emerald Standard Services, Inc.
  • J. Paul Johnsonย of Skilled Construction Services Unlimited
  • Manhattan Construction Company

โ€œHouston has a very active construction industry, and the work done by minority construction and engineering firms is critical in helping the market continue to thrive. We are happy to recognize these individuals and firms for their contribution to our local economy,โ€ said Chris Bilton, Houston MBDA executive director.
