As the Director of Business Equity at Port Houston, I am at the forefront of efforts to advance the strategic objectives related to Business Equity and Inclusive Procurement. My background reflects a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and economic impact, earning me recognition as the “Woman to Watch” by the Houston Business Journal in their 2022 “Women who Mean Business Awards.” In 2023, I was honored by the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce for my contributions to these areas, receiving the “Women in the Fast Lane” award.

Over the past fifteen years, I’ve made significant contributions to the development of Diverse, Minority, Women, and Small Business sectors. My work extends not only to Houston but also to underrepresented communities in regions including Africa, India, Australia, Malaysia, and the Caribbean. In my role as Director of Business Equity at Port Houston, I lead initiatives aimed at formulating strategies, planning, facilitating, and fostering equity and inclusiveness across all aspects of Port Houston’s operations. This work often involves collaboration with various agencies, city and state departments, and the communities we serve.

My background includes a diverse range of experiences. I’ve worked in Malaysia for almost seven years, partnering with IBM and a local university to promote workforce development programs in rural Asia. In Australia, I spent four years developing programs across vocational and academic sectors, tied to government-sponsored apprenticeships and corporate incentives. My career trajectory has encompassed roles in marketing, operations, business development, and accounting/audit. This diverse background has equipped me with skills in international sourcing, manufacturing, shipping and logistics, IT, distribution, education, and supplier diversity for private, public, and non-profit organizations.

I strongly believe in the power of data and collaboration as the driving forces of positive change. The world is evolving towards a more equitable and environmentally responsible future, and I’m deeply passionate about contributing to this social movement.

I believe that every day, we have the opportunity to make a difference,” she said. “Ensuring equity is established to level the playing field and driving change in the economy for future generations is a profound responsibility, and I’m driven by the idea that making the world a better place should never feel like work.”
