PVAMU to Host Virtual National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT) Colloquium

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Prairie View A&M University will host the first-ever Virtual National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT) Colloquium, set to take place Nov. 12-14, 2024.

This first-of-its-kind event will bring together leaders, researchers, and stakeholders from across the infrastructure field to explore NCIT’s groundbreaking research and programs, a news release said.

“PVAMU leads NCIT, marking the first Historically Black College/University to do so,” a news release from the university said. “This national-tier University Transportation Center, launched last year, focuses on improving the durability and extending the life of transportation infrastructure through innovation, research, and education.”

The colloquium will include a lineup of speakers, including U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Research Development & Technology Senior Advisor for Special Programs and Projects Thomas Saad, Infrastructure Engineering Incorporated and Affiliates Senior Vice President Paul C. Ajegba, USDOT Office of Public Engagement Senior Public Engagement Specialist Dawn C. Tucker, Texas Department of Transportation Executive Director Marc Williams and Texas Department of Transportation Strategy and Innovation Director Darran Anderson.

“One of NCIT’s greatest strengths is the diversity and expertise within our network. Each partnering institution brings unique abilities and capabilities – ranging from pioneering research to implementing real-world applications that will increase the life span and resiliency of transportation infrastructure assets – all united by a commitment to building a smarter, safer, and more sustainable surface transportation system for the future. This colloquium will not only celebrate our achievements but also allow us to engage in meaningful conversations that will shape our path forward,” said Dr. Judy A. Perkins, director of NCIT.
