Beaumont, Texas, is home to one of the countryโs most sophisticated industrial operations, supporting thousands of jobs and creating new products every day.
And with ExxonMobilโsย latest expansion of a new high-performance polyethylene line, the Beaumont story continues to grow.
ExxonMobilโs polyethylene plant in Beaumont will increase production capacity by 65 percent, or 650,000 tons, per year, bringing the siteโs capacity up to about 1.7 million tons per year.
And how is polyethylene being used? Much of it will go toward creating products for liquid and food packaging, construction liners and agricultural films โ meeting global demand that continues to increase each year. Many of these products are essential in improving agricultural yields and reducing food waste around the world.
Helping drive this expansion, along with a string of investments by ExxonMobil, is the abundant supply of natural gas liquidsย from shale fieldsย across the country.
And Beaumont, which saw 2,000 jobs during peak construction, is just one example of this new energy along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The region will benefit from 45,000 high-paying jobs from the company building and expanding manufacturing facilities as part of itsย Growing the Gulf campaignannounced in 2017.
Operations tied to Beaumontโs latest expansion will inject up to $20 billion in increased economic activity for the region, reinforcing its place as an American manufacturing hub.
