Turner, in Conjunction with its Foundation, Launches $5 Million Mental Health Investment

Turner Construction Company and the Turner Foundation announced a five-year, $5 million investment to advance mental health and well-being across the company and on its more than 1,000 projects.

This investment comes at a critical time for the construction industry, as more workers are needed to meet market demands, and leading companies seek to sustain welcoming and caring environments for the more than eight million people who work in the construction industry in the United States. Turner is stepping forward with compassion, urgency, and leadership to address this pressing issue.

Today, on every Turner project site across the company, teams are engaging in open, honest conversations about emotional well-being as part of the largest Safety Week in the companyโ€™s history. These conversations are reinforcing a culture where people are encouraged to speak up, support one another, and recognize that emotional wellness is vital to staying safe, strong, and connected.

โ€œTurner is a place where people can be at their best, be authentic, and be treated with respect and dignity. Mental health matters so much because it touches all of usโ€”our families, our coworkers, our friends,โ€ said Peter Davoren, Chairman and CEO of Turner Construction Company. โ€œWe are committed to building a workplace where every team member feels safe and supported.โ€

Turner is expanding its mental health awareness program with a focus on:

Increasing awareness and visibility of mental health resources
Reducing the stigma surrounding mental health challenges and seeking help
Ensuring that everyoneโ€”whether part of Turnerโ€™s 13,000-strong workforce or among the 110,000 people the company welcomes onto its jobsites each day โ€” knows where to turn for support.

This program is about reshaping industry culture. For too long, construction workers have felt that they should “tough it out” and “keep their head down.” Turner is challenging that mindset with a message of active caring: we check in, we reach out, and we care out loud.

Turnerโ€™s mental health leadership has earned recognition as the company was recently named one of Americaโ€™s Greatest Workplaces for Mental Well-being by Newsweek, based on a study that included over 403,000 employee interviews and 4.9 million company reviews across the United States.

Mental health is not just a private issue โ€” itโ€™s a construction industry issue. It affects how people think, how they speak up, and how they look out for one another. Turner is focused on:

Supporting the well-being of their teamsโ€”physically, mentally, and emotionally
Contributing to a culture of respect and inclusion
Reducing the stigma
Raising awareness
Encouraging the use of wellness and support resources

Because real strength doesnโ€™t come from staying silentโ€”it comes from standing together.

Turnerโ€™s and the Foundationโ€™s $5 million investment is a powerful step toward building a safer, stronger, and more compassionate industryโ€”one where every person goes home physically safely and mentally well. This five-year investment represents not just a momentโ€”but a movementโ€”to embed mental wellness into the personality and culture of the construction industry.
